Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about data sources, AI accuracy, privacy, exports, and account management.
What data sources does Sightlabs support?
Sightlabs monitors 14 platforms: Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Reddit, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok (social), Google Search, Google News, Google AI Mode (search), and ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Grok (AI chatbots). Social and search sources are available on all plans. AI chatbot monitoring requires Pro or Team.
Is scraping public social media legal?
Sightlabs accesses only publicly available content: posts, comments, and pages that anyone can read without logging in. Monitoring public data for brand intelligence is widely accepted practice and consistent with the terms of service of the platforms we cover. We do not access private accounts, direct messages, or any content behind a login wall.
How accurate is the AI sentiment scoring?
Sentiment scoring is probabilistic. For straightforward posts it is highly reliable. For sarcasm, irony, and posts that mix positive and negative signals, accuracy drops. Treat the aggregate percentages as a directional signal rather than a precise measurement. Reading the individual mentions in the Top Mentions panel is always the best way to verify what the numbers are telling you.
Can I export my data?
Yes, on Pro and Team plans. You can export scan results as CSV (raw mention data) or PDF (formatted report with charts and AI summary). Exports are available from the analytics view for any saved scan. Starter plan accounts can view results in the dashboard but cannot export.
Can I delete my account and data?
Yes. Go to account settings and select Delete account. This permanently removes your account, all saved scans, and all associated data from our systems within 30 days. The action is irreversible. If you want to keep a copy of your data before deleting, export it first.
Do you support GDPR and CCPA data requests?
Yes. EU and UK users can request a copy of their personal data or request deletion at any time under GDPR. California residents have equivalent rights under CCPA. To submit a request, email us at the address in the Privacy Policy. We respond within the statutory deadline (30 days for GDPR, 45 days for CCPA). See the Privacy Policy for full details.
What regions are supported?
Sightlabs is available worldwide. The platform and all plans are accessible from any country. Some data sources may return fewer results for queries in languages other than English, as coverage varies by platform and region.
Can multiple team members use one account?
The Team plan includes 5 user seats. Each seat gets its own login. Starter and Pro plans are single-user. If you need more than 5 seats, contact us about an Enterprise plan.
Is there a public API?
API access is included in the Team plan. It lets you pull scan results and trigger scans programmatically. Documentation is available to Team plan subscribers in the dashboard. Starter and Pro plans do not have API access. If you need API access at a smaller scale, contact us.
What happens if I cancel mid-month?
Your subscription remains active until the end of the current billing period. You will not be charged again after that. No prorated refund is issued for unused days. EU and UK users who cancel within 14 days of their initial purchase are entitled to a full refund under the statutory cooling-off period.
Do you store my search queries?
Yes. Queries and their results are stored so you can revisit them from your scan history and build analytics trends over time. You can delete individual scans from the dashboard or delete all data by closing your account. We do not sell query data or use it to train external models.
How do you handle children's data?
Sightlabs is intended for business users and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under the age of 16. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
What happens to my data if I downgrade my plan?
Your existing scan history is retained when you downgrade. However, features above your new plan tier become inaccessible. For example, if you downgrade from Pro to Starter, scans older than 30 days remain stored but are hidden until you upgrade again. We do not delete historical data on downgrade.
